Motorcycle/ Motorbike Get Geared Oversuits

One-piece, two-piece, lined, unlined, nylon, waxed-cotton, or any combination is the choice facing every buyer of a motorcycle ride gear oversuit. Most serious riders have two suits; a lined one for the cold weather and an unlined one for summer ride gear wear.

A one-piece, unlined, nylon ride gear suit will fold very small and can be strapped to the seat behind the rider, using rubber aero-elastics, when not being worn. This kind of motorcycle ride gears are ideal for wearing in warm weather.

A lined, two-piece motorcycle ride gear suit, either nylon or waxed-cotton, is the best buy for the colder weather. The motorcycle ride gear jacket can be worn on its own and the motorcycle ride gear trousers carried on the bike, or the complete suit can be worn.

Equipment OutfittersFor many years waxed-cotton, thorn-proof material has been the fabric for oversuits for motorcyclists who want to keep dry. Recently, however, it is losing its popularity in favour of nylon.

Whilst waxed-cotton is certainly waterproof it is also very greasy to the touch, and not suitable for wearing over light coloured motorcycle ride gear clothing. Nylon, whilst not quite so waterproof, is dry and clean to the touch, and is ideal for wearing over most clothes. It is the material chosen by most commuters, and certainly by those who wear motorcycle ride gear suits and white motorcycle ride gear shirts.

Some nylon motorcycle ride gear suits are guaranteed 100 per cent waterproof, and whilst initially these are more expensive, they do have the advantage that they can be changed if they leak. Some of these motorcycle ride gear suits are rubberised and can cause the rider to become ‘wet’ by sweating. They are usually very warm, but suffer from a lack of ventilation.

Reflective and fluorescent motorcycle ride gear jackets and belts are becoming increasing popular with the growing need to be easily seen on the the road. Some motorcycle ride gear oversuits have built-in panels of brightly coloured reflective/fluorescent material which can be seen at night.

Many motorcycle riders buy fluorescent belts, vests or jackets, which are designed for daylight use, and expect to be seen at night. But they can’t be; night riding requires a reflective material — one that will shine in car headlights. Motorcycle riders who require all round protection should buy a motorcycle ride gear garment that is both fluorescent and reflective.
